I had my reservist called up right after Chinese New Year and it lasted for 2 weeks, ending in the middle of the week. Hence I decided to extend my absence from work and explore another China city. I've heard so much about Guangzhou from my cousin so I bought a flight there.
I was impressed with Guangzhou, a slight different from the rest of the China cities that I've been to. I had an easy time with food as there were lots of halal restaurants but was quite disappointed with my shopping. Exported brands are still expensive even on this part of China.
However due to a wholesale city, there were lots of cheap stuffs to buy. Lucky I wasn't drawn to such things but I was looking for a drone. It took me a while to find the right one and finally bought one from Toys R Us.

Pretty awesome stuff here. Small and light weight but an ass to control. |
I stumbled upon a Bandai Tamashii display store and managed to talk the owner. Found out, he was actually the main distributor for Bandai in Guangzhou. We had a great time talking about stuffs, unlike the overly-geeky ones I had conversations with. He was nice enough to exchange contacts and he directed me to find all the great toyshops in Guangzhou. The place he recommended was heaven, similar to Singapore's China Square Central and the prices are close to those I saw in Hong Kong. I didn't really expect much shopping done, so I didn't change a lot of currency.
Finally owned myself a Masterpiece Grimlock. |
